What You Should Know About The ESTA Visa

If you are wondering about the ESTA visa, you should know that it stands for Electronic System for Travel Authorization. It is a program that is in place specifically for citizens of countries under the United States visa program. If you are a citizen of Australia, the United Kingdom or any other country where a visa to the United States is waived, you should apply for an ESTA. How do you do it?

It all starts with you looking going to the USA ESTA website online at https://en.usa-esta.us/apply/. Once you are there, application for travel authorization is very easy. You just need to click on the Click Here and Apply Now button, after which you will be taken through the next steps in your application. You will be asked several biographical questions and will be required to submit a copy of your passport.

Before applying, make sure you’ve already bought a round-trip ticket.

Once you’ve completed your application, you will be required to pay a $4 authorization charge. When your application is approved, you will be charged an additional $10. The charges have a money back guarantee. If your application is denied, you can apply for a refund by contacting the US ESTA website with your full name, the reason for your refund request, the email associated with your application, and the last four digits of the credit card used.

One thing you should know about the ESTA is that it is required of all citizens in countries under the US visa waiver program. The United Kingdom and Australia are not the only countries in the list. There’s also South Korea and Japan. If you’re not sure your country belongs there, check out the official ESTA website.

Having your application for travel authorization approved does NOT mean that you can enter the United State automatically. When you land at the airport, a personnel of the Customs and Border Protection will check your passport and determine if you can enter the country. You do not need to worry about this step of the process, though. Denial rarely, if ever happens, and it only happens when there is a very good reason.

How do you know if your application has been approved? If you receive an email containing your ESTA number.

You will find the full list of countries covered under the US Visa Waiver Program on the web page https://en.usa-esta.us/apply/.
