|

|
Winter is a great time to visit the Whitsundays. Here are 5 great reasons why:
1. Whale Season.
From July to September the annual migration of the Antarctic whale herds pass through the Whitsundays. With newborns in tow, these massive and majestic creatures make an awesome sight. Our trips during this time of year typically encounter at least one whale putting on an aerial show, with sometimes more.
2. Enclosed areas
Pacific Sunrise at 33 metres has 3 deck levels with just over 20 people maximum. There are two comfy lounge areas and two covered after deck locations. These keeps you cosy warm at night or provides you with a warm spot in the sun during the days, no matter the outside temperature. Keep in mind that average winter maximums are about 21 degrees, with the water temperature around the same. Sounds quite tempting compared to some winter climates eh?
3. Comfortable cabins and hot showers
Whether seeking complete privacy or laying in for the evening, your cabin will be a warm comfy place of refuge. Large with plenty of headroom, you won’t feel cramped and have a warm shower ensuite or adjacent to your cabin.
4. Settled weather pattern
With summer a distant memory, winter in the Whitsundays is a time of settled weather patterns. June through September enjoy 60% of day time wind strengths below 11 knots (22 km/h), and this means calm seas, negligible wind chill and plenty of sunny days.
